Written By: Adam Malecek

Five faculty members from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering are included on the Web of Science Highly Cited Researchers list for 2021; James Dumesic and George Huber from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering; Zongfu Yu and Mikhail Kats from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Kevin Eliceiri in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Song Jin, a chemistry professor and an affiliate of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, also appears on the list.

In total, 6,602 researchers from 70 nations were selected for their significant influence in 21 specific fields or impact across several fields. To determine the 2021 honorees, the Web of Science analyzed papers published and cited between 2010 and 2020, determining which authors ranked in the top 1% of cited papers.

Dumesic and Huber are both included for their impact on the field of chemistry while Yu, Kats and Eliceiri are recognized for cross-disciplinary influence.

In total, 15 researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison appear on the 2021 Highly-Cited honor roll.

James Dumesic is Professor Emeritus and George Huber is the Richard L. Antoine Professor in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Zongfu Yu and Mikhail Kats are both Jack St. Clair Kilby Associate Professors in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Kevin Eliceiri is the RRF Walter H. Helmerich Professor.
