Biomedical engineers to collaborate on stem cell culture platform research

Biomedical Engineering Assistant Professor Randy Ashton and Professor David Beebe have received a two-year, $348,422 grant from the National Institutes of Health National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. The funding will enable the researchers to merge cell culture substrates engineered at the micro- to nanoscale with microfluidic devices. Their goal is to create a culture platform that gives researchers spatiotemporal control over the morphology and morphogenetic patterning of 2D tissues derived from human pluripotent stem cells.
