EP PhD student to attend space conference

Aaron Olson, an engineering mechanics PhD student studying under Grainger Professor of Nuclear Engineering Gerald Kulcinski, received a $4,000 grant from the Future Space Leaders Foundation to cover the costs of participating in the 64th International Astronautical Congress in Beijing, China, September 23-27.

At the conference, Olson will present preliminary work on a scalable lunar mining prototype, which supports a UW-Madison Fusion Technology Institute goal to use lunar-sourced helium-3 as a fusion reactor fuel.
