Grad students receive Sandia research awards
Engineering physics PhD student Jeffrey Chenhall and electrical and computer engineering PhD student Kevin Jamieson received Sandia National Laboratories/UW-Madison Excellence in Engineering Graduate Research Assistantships for 2013-14. The program's goal is to encourage innovation in science-based, multidisciplinary research through support of outstanding doctoral candidates in engineering. The prestigious award includes a 10-week summer internship at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque. Chenhall studies high-energy-density science under Engineering Physics Professor Greg Moses, while Jamieson is continuing research on comparison queries, using sonar data labeled by human experts to design automatic classifiers.
