NSF funds research of computational materials data and design tools

A multi-university team led by Materials Science and Engineering Associate Professor Dane Morgan has received an NSF Software Infrastructure for Sustained Innovation award to develop tools for high-throughput generation of materials data for materials design. The five-year, $1.05 million grant will fund new tools to enable users to quickly determine diffusion and defect properties in existing and new materials. The research will enable rapid development of critical materials data underlying technologies from lithium-ion batteries to nuclear reactions to computer chips.
