Online cryogenic design game wins immersive learning award
Cool-It, an interactive game developed for Mechanical Engineering Professor John Pfotenhauer's course on cryogenics recently was awarded second place in the interactive category of the AECT/MPD Immersive Learning Awards. The Association for Educational Communications and Technology Multimedia Production Awards acknowledge innovations that define best practices for multimedia in education and communication. The game allows students to solve real-life cryogenics problems, such as designing coolers for minesweeping devices. A multidisciplinary team led by David Gagnon (DoIT), and including Mike Litzkow (CAE, DoIT), Pfotenhauer (ME, EP), Chris Blakesley (Education), and others helped develop the game with funding from DoIT Engage program.
