Career Connection '96 Links Students with Employers

CASE display at Career Connections

Career Connection '96 showcased more than 120 companies over three days, September 17, 18, 19. The event was open to all students, from freshmen to PhD candidates and alumni. Students were able to talk informally with recruiters about cooperative education, summer and permanent employment. The annual event is sponsored by Polygon Engineering Council and Engineering Career Services. The following are comments made by some recruiters at Career Connection '96.

Brad Baldes
ECE '94
Parker Hannifin Corporation

"It's fun to see some of the students I went to class with. Some are working for other recruiters. I like relaying my experience to current students that might be interested in a non-traditional engineering position like technical sales. This is an impressive event. It seem to get bigger every year. It is an outstanding forum for employers and employees to interface."

Sandra Egly
IE '95
Cooper Manufacturing Training Program

"When I was a student here, this event was very useful. I loved finding out before an interview if my needs might meet the employers requirements. Hopefully, now I can do the same for some of these students."

David Wengerhoff
Group Director Technology
Kraft Foods Inc.

"This is a good example of how colleges should prepare students. Kraft has a very active program on this campus. The students here are very prepared, both personally and academically. I think that is why our recruiting efforts are so successful on this campus."
