Five faculty members from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering have earned Vilas awards to support their research.
Eric Shusta, the Howard Curler Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, and Shiyu Zhou, professor of industrial and systems engineering, received Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorships, which provide five years of flexible funding.
Steven Loheide, professor of civil and environmental engineering, and Bulent Sarlioglu, associate professor in the college’s Engineering Professional Development unit, claimed Vilas Faculty Mid-Career Investigator Awards. The mid-career awards include research funding for one year.
Vilas honors, supported by the estate of the late professor, U.S. senator and UW Regent William F. Vilas, are awarded throughout each academic year to faculty members from across the UW-Madison campus. The awards recognize excellence in research, teaching and service.
