MSIE Course-Based Programs

Beginning in the fall semester of 2021, resident students with a Bachelor’s degree from the UW-Madison Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, enrolled in the following two course-based programs may be eligible for a tuition credit.

Systems Engineering and Analytics (SEA)

The program in Systems Engineering and Analytics will train students to recognize, identify, analyze, and solve decision problems arising in the efficient operations of engineering systems. The program focuses on methods and models for data analytics and data-driven decision-making. This is a course-focused master’s program that is intended to be completed within 12-16 months. Students in this program are allowed to do a summer internship.

Human Factors and Health Systems Engineering (HFHSE)

By examining, designing, testing and evaluating products, environments and how people interact in it, Human Factors and Health Systems Engineering professionals can create productive, safe and satisfying environments for humans, and apply industrial and systems engineering tools and approaches to specific health care problems. This is a course-focused master’s program that is intended to be completed within 12-16 months. Students in this program are allowed to do a summer internship.

MSIE - Research Option Program

MSIE - Research Option Program

Students in this program will take courses that build a foundation for conducting research in Industrial and Systems Engineering, including 3-6 credits of thesis and research. This program is ideal for students wishing to pursue a career in research and provides strong preparation for a Ph.D. program.
