As a student I was on UW-Madison’s Formula SAE team, an open wheeled
race-car competition. I was fortunate enough to co-lead our team my senior year. I had some of the most talented engineers I have ever known on our team. We also had as many resources and the freedom to use those resources than any team at competition. At competition we placed second out of 104 teams from around the world. Since then no other university has had more success.
As a professional engineer today, I cannot imagine a better experience a student could have preparing him or her for a successful career. I give back for many reasons, but mainly, to preserve the quality of students graduating and participating in vehicle programs on campus.
