The decision to give back results from wanting to support institutions that had a significant impact on who I turned out to be. The UW-Madison experience helped me grow in social, technical, athletic and leadership ways, for which I am very appreciative. I contributed to the fund for the renovation of the Mechanical Engineering Building. I do building renovations in my career and also have fond memories of class and studies in that building. I think that to the extent possible, alumni should support their educational institutions as tuition only covers part of the costs. We should want to keep the institution alive and well to benefit future generations.
