NSBE-WBESS 2006-2007 Point System Break Down

*All points are per current school year*

 

Membership (Both NSBE and WBESS members)

·         Become a paid member before the first deadline October 1, 2006 (5 pts)

·         Become a paid member 2 weeks after your first meeting (5 pts)

·         Become a paid member after the 1st deadline, but before 2nd deadline of October 15th (3 pts)

·         Become a paid member after October 15, 2006 (1 pt)

·         Refer a friend to become a member (1 pt)

 

General Body Meetings (1 point for each meeting attended)

 

Conference

• Driving to a conference (3 points)
• Attending a Conference (FRC, RLC, Nationals) - (3 points)
• Participating in an event at the Conferences (Flight Competition, Tech Bowl, etc.) - (3 points)

 

Officer (10 points)

·         Must fulfill duties of officer position to receive all points

·         Can lose points as well. Point losses:

o        No monthly reports (-0.5 pt per late report and -1 pt per no report)

o        Failure to accomplish role/officer duties (-2 pts per semester)

 

Committee (up to 5 points per semester)

·         Must be active! (*Points are awarded by your committee chairperson based on your participation)

 

Volunteering

·         2 points for each volunteering activity you participate in

 

Academics (Must submit grades on NSBE online)

·         Points awarded for academic achievement per semester (4.0 - 3.75 GPA = 8pts; 3.75 - 3.5 GPA = 6pts; 3.5 - 3.25 GPA = 4pts; 3.25 - 3.0 GPA = 2pts)

·         Points awarded for increase in GPA (1 pt for each .2 GPA increase in semesters)

·         Points awarded for donating homework and exam files to the study file database (1 pt per class and 5 pts max per semester).

 

Grad Student (4 points)

·         Must be active and must sign up for Mentorship program as a mentor for undergraduates

 

Succeeding Professionally

·         Sign up for Engineering Career Services (ECS) and submit resume online for WBESS (3 pts each)

·         Earning an internship/co-op/job  (3 pts)

 

Freshman (4 points)

·         Must complete these tasks to get all points: attend Freshman Social, bring class schedule, sign up for Mentorship program,  participate in 1 activity other than general body meetings and BE A MEMBER

 

Special Events

·         A maximum of 6 points can be received; 1 point per event

Note: In order to gain points while being on co-op member must write an essay on what they have learned while on co-op to be posted on the website. Points will then be awarded at the discretion of Prof. Shedd and the E-board.
