Welcome to the Hybrid Vehicle Team web page for the second year of EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge.  The page for About the Team has been updated to reflect the new leadership and we are working to get more Team Member Details posted.  At the top of the page we now have an easy link to subscribe to our RSS feed.  We have also created a Twitter account for quick information updates about the team and now have our design report from year one posted.

This Fall we are going to get started early with Engineering Bash on Tuesday, September 1st at 4pm and our kickoff meeting the following Tuesday, September 8th at 6.  Check the calendar or sign up for the mailing list to recieve updates about kickoff.

Hybridfest :: Green Drive Expo

Look for Wisconsin Hybrid at Hybridfest: Green Drive Expo at the Alliant Energy Cenert in Madison, WI this weekend.  We will be there with our ChallengeX Moovada, the Corbin Sparrow, and the Wisconsin Formula Hybrid competition vehicle.  Visit www.greendriveexpo.com for more information about the event.

The team has arrived in Toronto for EcoCAR 2009.  The competition starts today and lasts through Friday!

The automotive teams put their work on display on April 30th at the Undergraduate Research Symposium.  The university’s new chancellor, Biddy Martin, was present at the event and visited with the auto teams.  She even went for a ride on the snowmobile team’s IC sled.

The team visited Oregon High School to talk about our Moovada, the EcoCAR competition, and Earth Day today.  Thanks to Randy Way for helping us set this up.

The team met with the automotive and electronics students at Oregon High School and talked particularly about the hybrid vehicle design process and opportunities to work with hybrid vehicles.

The Hybrid Vehicle Team’s exhibit at Engineering EXPO 2009 received an honorable mention in the category of Student Organization Exhibits.  Thanks to everybody who helped out over the course of the three days!

The UW Hybrid Vehicle Team plans to travel to Oregon High School for Earth Day, and these plans were featured in an article featuring the plans of schools from throughout the country for this coming Earth Day.  The article has been picked up nationally, even by ABC News.  A link to the story is posted below:

The team would like to give a special thanks to CV Pros for all their help over the years, and their recent help preparing our EV1 for testing.  The team is almost ready to start testing the electric motor we will be using for EcoCAR!
