About Us

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Transportation Society is a group of students who are from different disciplines and educational backgrounds, including civil engineering, logistics, industrial engineering and economics, but have a common interest in transportation.  Topics covered in our monthly meetings are logistics, roadway reconstruction, transportation safety,  and ITS in Wisconsin.  We also attend various transportation meetings, such as the Transportation Research Board Meeting, and have our ideas presented and published.  While becoming a member of UWiTS is FREE (just show up to one of our meetings), we do offer student memberships in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).  More about that opportunity is found below.

"The diversity and vitality of the group will undeniably convey strength and vision to our research and studies on transportation systems."

ITE Student Chapter

The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international organization of transportation professionals based in Washington, D.C.  Our student chapter is just one of many ITE student groups across North America.  The chapter is organized and operated by students in the UW Transportation Society.

Our ITE Student Chapter serves several purposes.

  • Provide an opportunity for learning and discussion through guest speakers, student seminars and technical tours.

  • Give undergraduate students a glimpse of possible careers in transportation.

  • Encourage undergraduate students to consider a career or further studies in transportation engineering.

ITE is currently offering new student members one free year of membership!  Forms for the offer are available at all of our meetings and at the UWiTS office in M1097 Engineering Centers Building.
