International Rectifier has been
the major financial contributor to the UWFEC. IR has also contributed parts and
equipment to several projects including the UWFEC's
1KW Grid Tied Inverter Project
and in 2003 - the 500 watt motor and drive project.
The picture to the right shows an a International Rectifier IRAM being used in
the UWFEC's 1KW Grid Tied Inverter Project. International Rectifier’s IRAM module
is an Integrated Power Module developed and
optimized for electronic motor control in appliance applications specifically for
VF compressor drives for refrigerators and freezer or in heating and ventilation
as electronic fan controls.
The UWFEC chose the IRAM module for its inverter output module due to the IRAM
module's low cost and durability.
