September 20 - Emerging Green Builders Kickoff, 6:00pm

Where: 1164 Mechanical Engineering

September 27 - Laurie David, Distinguished Lecture Series

October 3 - General Meeting

On October 3rd we will be finalizing our group that we are sending to GreenBuild 2006 as well as talking out the Natural Design Competition. Location: 1164 Mechanical Engineering

October 4 - Green Drinks, 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Green Drinks is a regional social event in which people who work in the "green" sector or who are involved in improving the environmental impact of their business come together to network and share ideas.

Where?: The Local - 102 King Street (SE Corner of Capitol Square)

October 4 - An Inconvienant Truth - 7:30pm

Sponsored by the Wisconsin Union Directorate, An Inconvienant Truth will be showing for free at the Memorial Union Theatre at 7:30. Attendance is highly encouraged.

October 10 - Josh Arnold, Franklin Energy Systems

Josh Arnold, LEED AP from Franklin Energy Systems, a energy efficiency subcontractor for Wisconsin Focus on Energy will be speaking this joint event with our close friends at Business Action for Sustainable Enterprise about the Business Case and Economic Benefit of Building Green. Josh is the organizer of the monthly Green Drinks social event in Madison, expert on sustainable business as well as green building; and a huge supporter of EGB. Glass Nickel Pizza may be served. Location: 1175 Grainger Hall

October 17 - Project for Public Spaces

When: 4:30 - 6:15

Where: 1610 Engineering Hall

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) is brining in the prestigeous Project for Public Spaces consulting and design firm from New York City. Emerging Green Builders is co-hosting in conjunction with WUD.

October 17 - Sherrie Gruder, University of Wisconson - Extension

When: 6:30pm

Where: 1610 Engineering Hall

Sherrie Gruder is a LEED Accredited Professional, Sustainable Design Specialist, and Energy Program Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin Extension. She has been involved in most of the Green Building projects in Madison and many others around the State. She has been a speaker at GreenBuild as well as many other events, and has pubilshed several papers on green building, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. She will be speaking about Green Building Policy and the big (green) things that are begining to blossom in Madison.

October 18 - SE 2 - Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Conference

When: 8:30am - 6:30pm

Where: Monona Terrace

October 18 - Randy Udall

What: Randy Udall, director of the Community Office for Resource Efficiency, a nonprofit organization in western Colorado, will give a free public lecture on the topic "America's Energy Challenges." The event is sponsored by RENEW Wisconsin, the Madison Peak Oil Group, the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance, and the Nelson Institute at UW-Madison.

October 25 - Robin Pharo of Healthy Home Reports - Joint Meeting with ASID

When: 6:30pm

Where: 1164 Mechanical Engineering

Robin Pharo is an indoor air quality expert and consultant with Healthy Home Reports. Robin is a great speaker and has worked on dozens of homes and businesses. Robin will be speaking on "The Building Blocks of a Healthy Home". Glass Nickel Pizza will be served.

November 15-17 (14-18 with travel): GreenBuild

Where: Denver, CO

This year we are planning on sending 8 students to GreenBuild, the annual conference held by the US Green Building Council. We will be flying out of Madison on the afternoon of Tuesday the 14th and arriving back sometime in the late afternoon on Saturday the 18th. For more details please contact a co-chair.

December 5 - Carnagie Fabrics

EGB members met representatives from Carnagie Fabrics at SE2 last month. In addition, we will have brief presentations by some of the members who attended GreenBuild.

GLOBAL WARMING PANNEL
Memorial Union Theatre, 7:00.

The panel will discuss the economic, social, political, and
environmental issues surrounding the world's greatest epidemic.
The panelists come from unique academic backgrounds, ensuring
a provocative and interesting discussion. The panel will be followed by a reception in the Theater's lobby There will be FREE punch and cookies.

September 27

LAURIE DAVID KICKS OFF DLS TALKS
Environmental activist Laurie David, producer of the Al Gore film "An 
Inconvenient Truth," gets this year's Distinguished Lecture Series 
under way with a speech in the Memorial Union Theater at 7:30 p.m. on 
Wednesday, Sept. 27. David is also a trustee of the National 
Resources Defense Council and a founding member of The Detroit 
Project, a group that pushes for more fuel-efficient cars. Free 
student tickets are available at the Memorial Union Box Office one 
week in advance. They go fast so students are encouraged to get 
tickets early.
