EGB Spring 2008 Kickoff - Monday, February 4th

“Sustainability for the WID-MIR Project”: Prof. John Nelson will be speaking about his role as consultant on the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery project, a $150 million research facility which could be the campus’ first LEED certified, state-of-the-art green building. Construction is expected to begin in 2008. Mr. Nelson is a consultant to the design and construction industry, specializing in sustainability and lean design, and an adjunct professor in College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.” Come out and eat PIZZA!
Upcoming Event: Tour of Home Savings Bank
When: Tuesday, February 19th, 6pm
EGB will be touring the Home Savings Bank at 3762 E. Washington Ave. The bank will soon be Wisconsin's first LEED certified bank. The site boasts a rain garden in the drive-up area, recyclable materials, a heat-recovery system, and a green rewards program offering financing incentives to customers who build green homes. For those of you who need a ride, we'll be meeting at 5:45pm on the front steps of the Memorial Union on campus and then drive over there. For those of you who would like to drive yourselves, you can meet us at the Memorial Union at 5:30, or you can meet us at 6:00pm at the site.

EGB will be co-hosting Gerrit J. Reinders, Director of Global Energy and Sustainability at Johnson Controls. This event will be co-hosted with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
