The National Organization for Business and Engineering (NOBE) is a national association dedicated to uniting the business and engineering professions. It was officially formed during the first annual national conference in the Spring of 2007, in which similar organizations from Purdue University, The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, and University of Wisconsin-Madison decided to merge. Until then, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Chapter used to be known as Students Uniting Business & Engineering (SUBE) and began in 1997. Today it has approximately 70 members in business or engineering disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate level (although any major is welcome). Our mission is to broaden the visions of students in technology and business fields by facilitating relationships, providing cross-functional knowledge, and developing professional skills. As a young organization, we have very ambitious plans to merge with similar student organizations around the country to create a national association with a common goal; with this in mind, there are many roles available for students within NOBE that will provide valuable experience for future job opportunities. NOBE organizes social and educational events for students interested in fields of business and engineering. We hold informal meetings with industry where they speak on topics such as project management, entrepreneurship, e-Manufacturing, e-Commerce and Six Sigma. In addition, NOBE sponsors a bi-annual event titled Meet Your Future, holds an annual Consulting Seminar with top consulting firms, and organizes Brewer game trips and plant tours. Finally, NOBE provides networking opportunities and assists members in obtaining internships/ permanent positions through a resume book and contacts with NOBE alumni.
