About IEEE

Greetings IEEE information seekers!

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE – pronounced i-triple-e), is an organization consisting of over 370,000 professional and students members from over 160 countries worldwide. There are 80,000 student members in 1,526 student branches world wide. IEEE has 39 different "societies" which members interested in specific technical topics, such as biomedical technology and telecommunications, can join. The IEEE also enforces over 900 standards and is responsible for 30% of the world's technical documentation on electrical engineering, computers and control systems.

If you are an Electrical or Computer Engineering major, or are considering being an Electrical or Computer Engineering major, IEEE is your student organization. We are here to provide you opportunities to meet other students in the department through social events, to broaden your knowledge and network with industry through company sponsored technical talks, as well as to be part of something on campus.

We have many events and presentations from companies such as Google, National Instruments, WPS, Epic Systems, Microsoft, Cisco, and GE Healthcare. We also host a specialization lecture series in the spring semester, and more. There are a number of social events planned for this year, and we run a hands on project workshop as well.

If this sounds of interest to you, I would like to invite you to join IEEE. All you have to do is create a profile on our website and sign up on our mailing list to receive info for all of our upcoming events. Check out the IEEE calendar on our website for a complete listing of all of our planned events. I invite everyone from those just looking to attend one or two events a year to those looking to take a leadership role and be involved as an officer in this organization.

On behalf of the IEEE Board of Officers and myself, we are excited about the events we have planned this year and we hope you will join us and get involved in IEEE!
