Skills:
The team strives to develop the skills of all its members including the following:
Teamwork skills
Members are put into small sub-teams to design a portion of the bike. These teams meet in a small group setting every week.
Leadership skills
Experienced members are elected to officer and team leader positions every year.
Design experience
The sub-teams each design their portion of the bike completely from scratch. Each member is involved with this process.
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques
All members are involved in the fabrication and assembly of bike components.
Communication skills
Team members learn to communicate their design ideas to other team members through speaking, sketching, and writing.
Goal setting skills
Each sub-team makes a schedule each semester and attempt to stay on schedule.
Project management
Each sub-team and member have a set of assigned ( REBECCA: missing text here?)
Computer modeling skills
As the sub-teams work on their design all members are encouraged to learn SolidWorks and create models of their team's parts.
