University of Wisconsin - Madison Concrete Canoe Team

UW - Madison's 2010 Team

Co-Chairs

George Sullivan

George
George decided to take a greater role in ASCE and hasn't been paddling as much this year, but he sure is excited to show off his new hat at Regionals!

Julie Chapman

Julie

Eric Schneider

Everyone keeps reminding Eric not to swim out in front of the canoes, but does he listen. Eric is leading testing this year and making sure our mixes are strong enough to continue causing injury.

The Team

Cam Barnes

We can't seem to scare this one away, Cam returned this year to lead mix design. Cam wrote his name on the dust mask so nobody else gets his cooties.

Micheal Schneider

Michael sure caught the eye of Mr. Potatoe head

Tyler Hoehn

Tyler says "the palm tree was great to hold."
Nicole Brostowitz
Nicole
Nicole, as one of the most experienced members on the team is making sure that the canoe and the paddling teams are ready to dominate.

Adam Crook

Mike Stone

Mike
Mike is eyeing up the competition, and making sure this years boat stays in the front of the pack by any means necessary.

Corey Olson

Corey Olson

Corey is looking to put three years of experience to work and take a non-Civil Engineering perspective to making this years canoe make a great showing.

Jackie Strait
Jackie

Jackie is full of bounce just like Tigger. You never know when she'll be bouncing through the lab doors

Amanda Winters
Amanda is using her experience as a Viking to lift the paddling team to new levels. It's taken some adjustment, but the team is coming to accept her midieval ways.

Scott Woicek

Scott ran away from the zoo and has been staying in the canoe lab since.
Brent Ellifson

In Brent's third year of concrete canoe mayhem, he has promised not to break anything, in fact he might have a hand in fixing up the trailer. Brent is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, like when Tyler needed to cross a puddle...

Trevor Olson

Trevor doesn't even need a silly picture, he seems to make enough obnoxious poses in the lab to be covered.

Justin Hare

Justin once told me he wants to be a super hero. It appears that guitar hero is one of the early steps on the way to his dream.

Evan Thomas

Evan

Evan spent nearly all of fall semester making sure everything was on schedule for placement day. He was found covered in dust after one of his week long lab stints.

Steve Ward

Steve is going to be pulling the trailer, seen here when we brought him in for a tune up.

Nicole Johnson

Yevhen Brzhesskyy

Yevhen has brought us his worldly knowledge all the way from Russia!
Brian Boelter

Brian is rocking the sleeveless flannel shirt for our pool workouts.

Trevor Wetterau
Trevor is bringing a fly new style to the team this year. Look for our team shirts to be on the fashion runway this spring.

Jason Lyons and Bobby Barney

In an effort to expand mix testing, Jason and Bobby have created an innovative new plate testing method to simulate concrete on concrete collisions.

Clear Concrete Paddle

In our quest to create concrete with negative weight, we ran across this cool stuff: clear concrete. Look for the UW to design a "glass bottomed" canoe out of this stuff in 2009. To test our new found material, we made some clear concrete paddles, pictured above, which we plan on using in competition this year.

Box

The latest addition to our team, Box will be there holding our gear whenever we want to go paddling. Isn't Box pretty?

Trailer

Pictured above is our MVP, trailer. Trailer takes much abuse from the team. Going across the country multiple times at speeds in excess of plaid. It may have a few bald tires and its brakes may be a bit sticky, but we would get no-where without our beloved trailer.
