Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter Of The American Foundry Society Scholarship
The Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter of AFS is again pleased to announce our scholarship program for the 2008-2009 academic year. In appreciation of your on-going efforts to educate our employees of the future, we are inviting you to select one student of your choice to receive a scholarship. Please have that student fill out the attached scholarship application along with your recommendation and submit it to me no later than December 31, 2008. We would also appreciate it if you would distribute the scholarship application to other students at Wisconsin – Madison University and invite them to apply as well.Over the last 10 years, our chapter has awarded more than $139,000 in scholarship funds. Scholarship recipients and award amounts are determined by deliberation of our scholarship committee. Strong emphasis is placed on the essay portion of the application. Numerous other factors are considered. Preference is given to students who:

  • are enrolled in metallurgy, material sciences, or other metals programs
  • are enrolled in local universities or technical schools
  • intend to work in the foundry industry
  • have relatives who work in the foundry industry
  • are residents of our AFS chapter area or of Wisconsin and surrounding states

Scholarship winners will be notified by January 30, 2009. Please note that all students receiving an award need to register with The Foundry Educational Foundation as soon as possible. We recommend that they register now on line at fefoffice.org. The awards will be presented at our March 2, 2009 Scholarship Night in Menasha, WI. We hope you will join us as we present awards to your students.Sincerely;
