The UW-Madison Bursar's Office will send an invoice for tuition and fees prior to the start of the semester. UW-Madison accepts online e-check payments for tuition and fees. Please visit http://www.bussvc.wisc.edu/bursar/tuiteck.html. If payment has not been received by the due date printed on your invoice, a late fee of $100 will be placed on your account. Students who have not paid tuition/fees for prior terms will have holds placed on their records. Holds will prevent registration for a new term until tuition payment is made.
A $20 “returned check” charge applies to all dishonored checks tendered by the university. Students will be required to submit cash, cashier's check or money order to replace the returned check. In addition, the late payment fee of $100 could be assessed to the fee/tuition account if full fee/tuition payment is not made by the due date.
If you have not received a tuition invoice, you have two options:
-
Print a bill from the MyUW Web site: my.wisc.edu or
-
E-mail tuition@bussvc.wisc.edu and request a tuition and fee bill copy. Be sure to specify which bill you need.
Special arrangements can be made through the Office of Engineering Outreach if you need to pay your tuition by credit card (Visa or MasterCard only). Email will be sent to all students from the Office of Engineering Outreach prior to the start of the semester asking if you wish to take advantage of this option. The information requested must be received at the Office of Engineering Outreach by the deadline stated in the email. This allows us time to charge your card and transfer the funds to the Bursar in your name. Credit cards are not accepted after this date. We are not responsible for any late charges that may be added to your account by the Bursar due to delays in providing us your credit card information.
Your name is not automatically dropped from the list of registered students if you do not pay your tuition. If you register for a course, you are responsible for payment of all fees unless you officially drop the course by the deadline.
Further information about the tuition process can be found at the Bursar's Web site: http://www.bussvc.wisc.edu/bursar/bursar.html.
Can I get a refund if I drop a course?
Refunds are determined on the basis of the date the Office of Engineering Outreach is notified of your intention to drop a course:
-
100% refund during the first two weeks of the semester.
-
50% refund if class is dropped during weeks three or four.
-
There is no refund after week four.
What should I do if a company or government agency is paying all or part of my tuition?
The agency must provide a letter, voucher or purchase order authorizing the university to bill the agency directly. The letter must be delivered before the end of the first week of classes. The letter must specify the student's name, amount the agency will pay, which terms are covered and the agency's mailing address. The student's tuition is then deferred to the third party. If the agency is only paying a portion of the student's tuition, it is the student's responsibility to pay the balance of the tuition by the due date in order to avoid late payment fees. Students are responsible for verifying the authorizations are in effect for each term of enrollment. Students are ultimately held responsible for fee payments if the third party does not pay the deferred fees.
