| 9:15 | WORKSHOP 1: THOSE FIRST CLASS DAYS AND BEYOND
1045 ECB (also offered at 10:55 a.m.) So, you have an appointment as a TA? What are your responsibilities? What are your common concerns about the first day? How can you get and use feedback from students? How do you make the transition from being an undergraduate student to a TA teaching undergraduates? How do you know the students are learning? Will you also have time for course work and research? Working in small groups, you will come up with answers to these questions. Experienced TAs will share some of their stories. You will also get a chance to critique a videotape of TAs on their first day. Coordinators:Shane Bechler, TA - Chemical and Biological Engineering Krishna Bharath, TA - Electrical and Computer Engineering Adam Brewer, TA - Material Science Engineering Laurie Hazeltine, TA - Chemical and Biological Engineering Stephen Lindsay, TA - Chemical and Biological Engineering Jose Sanchez Perez, TA - Mechanical Engineering Harsh Sinha, TA - Electrical and Computer Engineering Facilitators: Christine Nicometo, Engineering Professional Development | Edit

| 8:15 | From Teaching to Learning
1106 Mechanical Engineering Do attitudes follow behaviors or behviors follow attitudes? Does it matter? Five best practices will be the focus of this session: learning in context, group-based learning, increased time on task, increased frequency of feedback, and positive classroom climate. Web 2.0 technologies have a special role. So begin to imagine your course in the google world. Panelists:Aaron Brower Vice Provost of Teaching and Learning University of Wisconsin | Edit
