The most memorable final that I ever had (and the most fun!) was a hydraulic engineering final in 1978. The incomparable J.R. Villemonte was the professor. The final was entitled "Slug Flow Down a Steeply Inclined Flume," and was held at "Jingles" tavern. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable end to a very challenging course.
Also in 1978, several of us made a road trip with three concrete canoes to attend the annual concrete canoe races. They were held in Toledo, Ohio. Among my fellow participants were Robin Drout, Duane Fox and Diane Waal. We didn't know much about constructing concrete canoes in those days and found out very quickly that concrete canoes do sink when rammed.
