Waves of K-12 students surged through the hallways and stairwells of the Engineering Campus April, 16. Some oohed and ahhed as the mysteries of science and engineering were explained away by exhibitors, others were just happy to be away from school for the day.

There was plenty to see at the 24th biennial Engineering EXPO. The student-run event showcases recent developments in engineering and technology, and demonstrates how those developments can be applied to everyday life. Engineering Students, faculty and industry teamed up to present more than 100 exhibits ranging from concept cars and laser guitars, to cheese-stretching machines and a reactor for producing methane on mars.

More than 15,000 people were expected to attend the three day event. Friday was students' day with special events for the K-12 crowd including a number of competitions involving bridge building, Rube Goldberg^TM, robots, rockets, eggs and writing.
