Jane (seated left) and Lindon Saline (seated right) established the Harold A. Perterson Graduate Student Paper award through the Lindon and Jane Salline Fund. |
Thanks to the generous donation of Donald E. (BS, EE 1948) and Patricia Cheney the college's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was able to renovate a large meeting room and adjacent patio. The space will be used by ECE and other College of Engineering Departments for student study, relaxation, graduation events, awards ceremonies and other social activities. The remodeled room will now be known as the Donald E. Cheney room.
Another gift presented by Lindon (MS, EE 1948, PhD 1950)and Jane Saline
established the Harold A. Peterson Graduate Student Paper award. It honors a
UW ECE graduate student for authoring a journal or conference paper of
outstanding quality in his or her field of study. This year's award went to
Gil Raz for the paper "Baseband Volterra Filters for Implementing Carrier
Based Nonlinearities." The award is derived from an endowment, the Lindon and
Jane Saline Fund.
Harold A. Peterson was the Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering from
1948 to 1967.
