ChE department has new chair

James A. Dumesic

Steenbock Professor James A. Dumesic took over as the new chair of the Department of Chemical and Biological EngineeringChemical Engineering in January. Dumesic replaces Professor Sangtae Kim, who has taken a position with Parke Davis Pharmaceutical Research in Ann Arbor.

Dumesic's research interests include heterogeneous catalysis, surface chemistry, industrial chemistry, microkinetic analysis, microcalorimetry, and in situ spectroscopy. He previously served as the department's chair from 1993-94.
