The UW-Madison chapter of the American Nuclear Society has won the organization's 1998 Samuel Glasstone Award for Best Student Branch. The ANS Student Branches Committee said the chapter "reflected the energy and professionalism that has made the UW-ANS a model for student branches across the country." The award was accompanied by a cash award of $600.

Student branches compete for this award by submitting a report of their activities for the year. There are 25 members of the UW-Madison ANS chapter.
