Better Biopsy

Student Kelly Stevens
To test for disease, physicians remove tiny pieces of tissue from patients via biopsy procedures. But this process can carry complications such as major bleeding or disease spread as well. The Cauterizing Biopsy System, developed by biomedical engineering student Kelly Stevens and others, could significantly reduce or eliminate the risk of these traumas by using radio-frequency energy to cauterize the biopsy needle's tract.
