Born, Hartford, Connecticut, July 14, 1889.

Attended special Night School courses at Carnegie-Institute of Technology.

Held successive positions of increasing importance with Terry Steam Turbine Co., Westinghouse Electric Corp., A.0. Smith Corp., and Murray Iron Works.

With Allis.Chalmers Company since 1936, and in present position since 1954.

Has been in responsible charge of numerous developments in steam and gas turbine design, and nuclear power.

Appointed in 1941 as an original member of Special Committee on Jet Propulsion of N.A.C.A.

Chairman and member of numerous advisory boards and committees of A.S.M.E. and other technical societies.

Holder of 67 patents in the power machinery field.

ALEXANDER GRAHAM CHRISTIE (Large image)

Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.

Born, Manchester, Ontario, November 19, 1880.

Attended School of Practical Science, University of Toronto, 1898-1901. M.E. Degree, Toronto, 1913.

1901-09—In engineering positions with various firms, including Allis—Chalmers, and instructor at Cornell.

1909-14—Assistant and Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, University of Wisconsin.

At Johns Hopkins since 1914. Emeritus since 1950.

Has been consultant on design of power plants for utilities, industries, and governmental agencies on every continent but Africa.

Author of sections on steam turbines in handbooks and of numerous scientific papers.

Past President and Honorary Member of A.S.M.E.

Chairman, Maryland State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

Holds honorary doctorate degrees from Stevens Institute, Lehigh University, and Johns Hopkins.

Born, Marshalltown, Iowa, December 24, 1901.

B.S. (Civil Engineering), University of Wisconsin, 1928.

C.E. degree, 1953.

Held various engineering jobs in municipal and highway field before and after graduation.

With Portland Cement Association, 1929-46, rising to head of the Structural and Products Development Section.

In present position since 1946.

Active in technical society work.

Author or co-author of numerous technical papers on concrete and concrete masonry.

Twice awarded the American Concrete Institute's Wason Medal for most meritorious paper.

Born, Du Quoin, Illinois, August 31, 1901.

B.S. (Mining Engineering), University of Wisconsin, 1924.

Taught at New Mexico Military Academy, 1924-25.

With Ladish Company since 1925, rising through successive positions of Engineer, Secretary, and Vice President in Charge of the Fittings Division.

Member of Tau Beta Pi, Triangle, Miners' Club, and of various clubs in Milwaukee.

WILLIAM A. KLINGER (Large image)

President of W.A. Klinger, Inc., Sioux City, Iowa.

Born, June, 1888.

B.S. (Civil Engineering), University of Wisconsin, 1910.

Instructor at Wisconsin for two years.

Served in World War I as 1st Lieutenant of Engineers, then went to Sioux City and organized his present company. He is also President of Younglove Construction Co.

Past President (two terms) of Associated General Contractors of America.

Past Director and member of important committees of U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Active in civic and community organizations at local, state and national level, and in University of Wisconsin alumni activities.

Served as Brigadier General in the Pacific in World War II.

Has devoted much time and energy in recent years to furthering education for construction.

B.S. (Electrical Engineering), University of Wisconsin, 1926.

Graduate student in Physics, 1926-28.

Constructed and operated Radio Station WIBA, Madison, 1925-28.

With Allen—Bradley Company since 1928, as Radio Engineer, 1928-31; Director of Research, 1931-55; and in present position since 1955.

Served with Technical Industrial Intelligence Committee under Joint Chiefs of Staff, Germany, 1945-46.

Holder of 26 patents.

Member of Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi.

Active in numerous professional and technical societies.
