Biomedical engineers to study vascular network development in tissue scaffolds

Biomedical Engineering Assistant Professor Pam Kreeger and Associate Professor Kristyn Masters received three-year, $449,974 National Science Foundation grant for their research, "Promotion of tissue engineering angiogenesis via analysis of cellular decision-making processes in response to mechanical and bimolecular cues." The two aim to use both experimental and computational methods to identify scaffold design parameters that support angiogenesis‹development of a vascular network‹and develop novel strategies for improving angiogenesis in scaffold environments that are intrinsically less supportive of angiogenesis.
