Russell honored for contributions to engineering education
Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Jeffrey S. Russell has received a 2014 Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The annual award recognizes just five civil engineers for their contributions in construction, design, education, government, and management.
Russell’s award, in the education category, recognizes his extraordinary contributions to civil engineering over his 25-year career. His body of work demonstrates his commitment to increasing and enhancing civil engineering education to ensure future civil engineers are well prepared to meet the industry’s challenges. Russell, who also is UW-Madison vice provost for lifelong learning and dean of the Division of Continuing Studies, formally received the award March 20, 2014, during the ASCE annual OPAL gala in Arlington, Virginia.
