Engelstad becomes ASME fellow
Stephen P. Timoshenko Professor of Mechanical Engineering Roxann Engelstad was named a fellow of ASME. In conferring the award, ASME cited Engelstad's international reputation as the leading expert on mechanical issues associated with design, fabrication, and usage of advanced masks and processes for next-generation lithography. Engelstad, a former chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, is also founder and director of the UW Computational Mechanics Center, which is funded to assess the commercial potential of lithography techniques, including immersion, extreme ultraviolet, nanoimprint, electron projection, ion projection, and x-ray lithography. The center is a key resource for the semiconductor industry, and has conducted many investigations for SEMATECH, the international consortium for commercialization of semiconductor technology.
