Murrell receives NSF grant for cell research

Biomedical Engineering Assistant Professor Michael Murrell and his collaborators have received a three-year, $290,000 National Science Foundation grant to support their research proposal, "Kinetics of cytoskeletal turnover as determinants of force generation and transmission in cells." Along with Tae Yoon Kim of Purdue University, Murrell will perform research on the fact that cells actively change their shape during essential life processes, from cell division to migration, in the process providing insight into the development of new biologically inspired materials.
