UW-Madison researchers part of new cell manufacturing consortium

The National Institute for Standards and Technology has announced $499,636 in federal funding for the Cell Manufacturing Consortium, a multi-institutional group that includes UW-Madison researchers. Milton J. and A. Maude Shoemaker Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering Sean Palecek Sean Palecek and Harvey D. Spangler Professor of Biomedical Engineering William Murphy will lead the UW-Madison contribution to the group, which aims to set the agenda for the future of cell-based medical technologies, including antibodies and vaccines. The Georgia Research Alliance will lead the consortium, which comprises researchers from six United States universities and four biotech companies.
