Benson delivers lecture in honor of famed geotechnical engineer

The Purdue Geotechnical Society selected Wisconsin Distinguished Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geological Engineering Craig Benson as its 11th Gerald Leonards lecturer, which honors a geological engineers that espouse the connection between fundamental research and application in practice. 

The lecture series honors the spirit of the late Professor Gerald Leonards, a prominent figure in the world of geotechnical engineering who made his career at Purdue University. Benson’s lecture, delivered April 19, 2013, was titled, "Organoclays: novel barrier media for managing groundwater flow and transport at NAPL-contaminated sites.”
