Virtual internship program earns NSF support

The National Science Foundation awarded a $600,000 Course, Curriculum, Learning and Instruction grant to Biomedical Engineering Associate Professor Naomi Chesler to develop and test a new internship simulation, run as part of a freshman-level engineering course. Designed to retain students who might otherwise give up on engineering due to struggles with basic math and science courses, the simulation enables students to assume the roles and responsibilities of working engineers, giving them an idea of what to expect in their careers.
