Kreeger awarded $720K for ovarian cancer research
The American Cancer Society awarded a four-year, $720,000 grant to Biomedical Engineering Assistant Professor Pam Kreeger for her research of cell interactions in ovarian cancer. By developing a novel culture system and using computational analysis, Kreeger will work to create a richer picture of what sort of protein messaging that occurs between the macrophage and tumor cells in ovarian cancer patients. "We're trying to understand what is driving ovarian cancer, and how we can use that information to develop effective therapies," says Kreeger. Obstetrics and Gynecology Associate Professor Manish Patankar is a collaborator on the research.
