Alderson wins best student paper award
Eric Alderson, a graduate student in the Fusion Technology Institute, received the Best Student Paper Award at the 13th Workshop on Inertial Electrostatic Confinement (IEC) Fusion held in Sydney Australia, in December. His paper, “Negative ion studies in an IEC fusion device,” summarized work for his PhD thesis conducted in the UW IEC Fusion Laboratory over the past several years. The work was funded by a gift from alumnus David Grainger to support long-range energy research.
