Malloy wins Best Student Paper award from IEEE conference

Electrical and computer engineering graduate student Matthew Malloy received first prize in the best student paper competition at the IEEE-sponsored Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers on November 9. Co-authored by McFarland-Bascom Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Robert Nowak, Malloy’s paper presents findings of effective sequential methods to recover sparse signals among background noise.
