Cramer receives L.J. Markwardt award from ASTM

Steven Cramer, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received the 2011 L.J. Markwardt Award on Nov. 2 from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International. The Markwardt honor recognizes distinguished contribution to the knowledge and improved utilization of wood as an engineering material. Cramer has made extensive contributions to ASTM International's Committee on Wood, serving for four years as chairman. He is also recognized for helping develop new standard practices for the performance of light frame wood building systems and materials. ASTM is devoted to developing standards that are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance safety, facilitate market access and trade, and build consumer confidence.
