WEMPEC co-directors receive IEEE awards

The co-directors of the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC), Professors Tom Jahns and Bob Lorenz, received the two top awards from the IEEE Industry Application Society at its annual meeting award ceremony in Orlando this October. Jahns, the Grainger Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received the 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award. The award recognizes his outstanding contribution and technical developments in the application of electricity to industry. Also, Mead Witter Foundation Professor of Mechanical and Electrical and Computer Engineering, Bob Lorenz, received the 2011 Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes his dedication and exceptional service to the IEEE Industry Application Society. Lorenz previously received the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2003.
