  • Develops novel photonic devices that advance scientific knowledge and help both U.S. industry's competitiveness worldwide and the optoelectronics industry in Wisconsin.

  • Pursues research in high-power coherent semiconductor lasers, quantum-confinement optical devices, photonic lattices, guided-wave optics, and novel materials for photonic devices.

  • Interacts with industry, including Coherent Inc., AlfaLight Inc., Agilent Inc., New Focus Inc., and TRW Inc.
