  • Operates a plasma confinement device for fusion energy science research, with an emphasis on developing basic science and technology relevant to smaller, more efficient fusion energy sources.

  • Studies production and stability characteristics of high pressure, magnetically confined plasmas in a low-aspect-ratio toroidal geometry with auxiliary heating.

  • Provides integrated team-oriented research and development training for undergraduate and graduate students. Develops and deploys diagnostics for studies of characteristics of high-temperature fusion plasmas.
