The Comprehensive Health Enhancement Support System (CHESS) is an innovative, easy-to-use, interactive, Internet-based program that provides information, emotional support, decision-making and health management tools to people who are dealing with difficult health or well-being issues. It integrates comprehensive, up-to-date information; interactive assessment, behavior change and decision tools; and support that is convenient, anonymous and controlled by the user.

The CHESS Health Education Consortium brings together health service researchers and sponsors who are known for excellence and innovation in health promotion and healthcare delivery. The primary goal of this consortium is to advance the impact of health education and patient support through computer-based technology.

Industrial Sponsors: Allina Health System (Minnesota), Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Massachusetts), Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (Massachusetts), Hartford (Connecticut) Hospital, Fletcher Allen Health Care (Vermont), St. Paul's Hospital (Vancouver, British Columbia), Merck Pharmaceuticals, Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota), University of Wisconsin-Madison
