The UW Technology Enterprise Cooperative, a joint venture with the School of Business and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, creates opportunities for UW-Madison students, faculty and staff to experience the technology entrepreneurship process and learn about the formation of technology-based enterprises. Among its activities, UW-TEC:

  • Fosters interaction and partnerships between students and faculty to explore unique technology and related business opportunities. Provides support for new technology-based businesses through seminars, training and investment support.

  • Administers Schoofs Prize for Creativity, an undergraduate student invention contest designed to stimulate interest in entrepreneurship.

  • Administers G. Steven Burrill Technology Business Plan Competition for students across the UW-Madison campus.

  • Administers Tong Prototype Prize and loan program.

  • Establishes cooperative ventures where UW-Madison students, faculty, staff and private sector partners provide in-kind resources to develop a technology to the point of commercialization.
