PEGASUS TOROIDAL EXPERIMENT
-
Operates a plasma confinement device for fusion energy science
research, with an emphasis on developing basic science and technology
relevant to smaller, more efficient fusion energy sources.
-
Studies production and stability characteristics of high pressure,
magnetically confined plasmas in a unique low-aspect ratio toroidal
geometry with auxiliary heating.
-
Provides integrated team-oriented research and development training
for undergraduate and graduate students.
-
Develops and deploys diagnostics for studies of characteristics of
high-temperature fusion plasmas.
