• Develops and evaluates healthcare decision support and information systems for healthcare providers, consumers and policy makers to improve quality of care, reimbursement policy and delivery of care in long-term and other healthcare settings.

• Provides decision support to national and state organizations in assessing and improving quality of care provided in healthcare facilities, health plans and local communities.

• Develops/evaluates patient and caregiver support systems, including the CHESS Health Education Consortium (CHEC).

• Performs analyses to promote efficient healthcare payment and care practice.

• Conducts research and decision support system development in these five major areas:
  1. quality assessment and improvement,
  2. long-term care,
  3. public health policy and program evaluation,
  4. consumer decision making,
  5. patient education and support.
