Careers in manufacturing and engineering management

MSE graduates are in high demand. Employers seeking flexible engineers appreciate their broad knowledge combining expertise in business strategy with a solid foundation in engineering. In addition, the hands-on focus of the program ensures MSE graduates to be ready on day one. Indeed, with more than 400 alumni heading operations and successfully driving change worldwide, the MSE degree is a highly recognized credential.

The MSE program allows students to build strong networks of professional contacts through alumni mentoring programs, seminars on special topics and involvement in professional or student associations. Frequent interactions with leading manufacturing firms enable students to participate in internships and industry projects.

Job search

Job searches begin immediately upon entering the MSE program. Students are provided with multiple resources, all of which allow them to proactively research potential careers and companies as well as to work closely with experienced professionals who are willing to share their perspectives on the dynamic field of manufacturing.

MSE students have multiple opportunities to interview on campus, network with alumni and industry leaders, visit websites, interview in various locations during semester break and spring break, and use the on-site staff available specifically to assist them in the process.

Both Engineering Career Services and the Business Career Center provide resources to aid MSE students in their job search, including employer research, résumé and cover-letter services, and mock interviews.

Ninety-nine percent of MSE graduates accept permanent positions by graduation day. The average starting salary for MSE graduates in December 2007 was $65,000.
